Miguel Danielson

Founder & Managing Member

Miguel Danielson is Founder and Managing Member of Danielson Legal LLC. Mr. Danielson is a veteran of two top law firms in Boston, having previously practiced at Testa, Hurwitz & Thibeault LLP, and Goodwin Procter, LLP. Mr. Danielson has experience in a variety of intellectual property and transactional technology law matters.

Mr. Danielson has served as primary outside trademark counsel to numerous publicly traded companies and has counseled dozens of companies of all sizes on all aspects of trademark portfolio development and strategy. He has served as primary licensing counsel to dozens of software companies and has advised a multitude of technology companies on IP issues relating to multi-million dollar corporate transactions including acquisitions by publicly traded companies. Mr. Danielson has also advised companies on pre-litigation and litigation matters involving copyright, trademark, and patent infringement.

Mr. Danielson holds a J.D. from Harvard Law School and a B.S. in Management Information Systems from the University of Minnesota. He is admitted to practice before the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts, and the Federal District Court for the District of Massachusetts.

Robert Blasi

Member

Robert Blasi is a Member of Danielson Legal LLC and has previously served as a partner with Goodwin Procter LLP and an associate with Testa, Hurwitz & Thibeault LLP. Mr. Blasi has significant experience acting as outside counsel to hundreds of technology clients, advising them on legal issues that they encounter every day including patent strategy and portfolio development, licensing, intellectual property issues arising in corporate transactions, and open source software.

Mr. Blasi has developed and managed patent portfolios in the areas of computer software and hardware and business methods, both domestically and abroad for clients ranging from start-ups to members of the Fortune 1000, and has advised his clients on patent litigation matters. He has negotiated technology and IP licenses in academic and commercial contexts, and has experience with commercial arrangements, including reseller and OEM agreements, maintenance and support agreements, distribution and marketing agreements, end user license agreements, consulting and professional services agreements, employment agreements, and confidentiality agreements. Mr. Blasi is an authority on issues concerning software made available under “open source” licenses.

Mr. Blasi holds a Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School (cum laude), a Master’s in Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley, and a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering from Drexel University (summa cum laude). He is admitted to practice before the United States Patent Office, the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts, the Federal District Court for the District of Massachusetts, and the Federal Courts of Appeals for the First Circuit and the Federal Circuit.

Anna Chagnon

Senior Counsel

Ms. Chagnon is an accomplished corporate attorney and high technology executive with over 20 years experience in software licensing, intellectual property protection, worldwide contractual arrangements, human resources issues, general corporate matters, securities law compliance, and M&A activities. She has an extensive background in preparing and negotiating agreements worldwide that enhance a company’s business operations, including software and technology licensing agreements, joint marketing and development agreements, consulting services and maintenance agreements, non-disclosure and non-competition agreements, and employment agreements. She also advises companies in connection with strategic transactions, debt and equity financings, mergers and acquisitions, employment matters, intellectual property protection, and corporate governance.

Ms. Chagnon’s most recent in-house role was as General Counsel to a worldwide publicly-traded software company for 14 years where she was responsible for all aspects of the company’s legal matters, including management and protection of the company’s intellectual property portfolio and negotiation of worldwide contracts with customers, resellers and suppliers. She also served in various executive management positions at the company including Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operating Office and eight years as President and Chief Executive Officer. This experience has given her a deep understanding of how to balance a company’s legal needs with meeting the day-to-day demands of the business.

Ms. Chagnon began her career in private practice with the Boston law firms of Warner & Stackpole and Peabody & Arnold. Her practice focused assisting with commercial transactions, corporate governance, and strategic matters for a wide range of clients, including technology, biotechnology, financial services and consumer products companies.

She received her undergraduate degree from Northeastern University (summa cum laude), her M.B.A. from Babson College (summa cum laude) and her J.D. from Boalt Hall Law School at the University of California, Berkeley. Ms. Chagnon is admitted to practice before the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts.

Jonathan W. Lent

Senior Counsel

Jonathan W. Lent is Senior Counsel and a litigation specialist at Danielson Legal LLC. Mr. Lent has significant experience in all phases of litigation, advising clients on pre-litigation disputes and risk assessment, and negotiating settlements. Mr. Lent has represented clients in a broad range of complex litigation matters, including intellectual property, business, and employment disputes. He has experience working with clients from a variety of technologies and industries, including: computer software, hardware, and processors; Internet services; banking; retail; athletic apparel; and medical devices and pharmaceuticals. Mr. Lent has advocated for clients in federal and state courts, before the International Trade Commission, and at arbitration and mediation.

Prior to his current role, Mr. Lent gained extensive experience working at large, nationally recognized Boston law firms. He began his legal career as a litigation associate at Testa, Hurwitz & Thibeault LLP. In 2005, he was recruited to join the litigation practice group of Goodwin Procter LLP. During his six years with Goodwin, Mr. Lent’s practice focused on complex business and intellectual property litigation. In 2011, Mr. Lent joined Seyfarth Shaw’s litigation practice to expand his trial experience. While at Seyfarth, Mr. Lent appeared before the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court, obtained a defense verdict in a federal court jury trial, and represented a national retailer in a consumer class action alleging unfair and deceptive trade practices.

Mr. Lent holds a J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law and a B.A. in Public Policy from Hamilton College. Mr. Lent is licensed to practice before the state and federal courts of Massachusetts and has appeared pro hac vice in numerous other courts throughout the United States.

Elizabeth Walker

Senior Counsel

Elizabeth (Ellie) Walker is Senior Counsel at Danielson Legal. Ms. Walker has over 15 years of experience assisting clients in acquiring, developing, protecting, and enforcing domestic and international intellectual property rights, with an emphasis on trademark, trade dress, domain name, and copyright issues.

Ms. Walker has an extensive background in all phases of U.S. and foreign trademark clearance, prosecution, enforcement, and licensing, having managed international trademark portfolios of all sizes and in all jurisdictions worldwide, for some of the most recognizable brands in the world. She also has substantial experience in other areas of intellectual property law, including strategy, management and enforcement of copyright registrations and domain name portfolios, branding guidelines, web site terms of use and privacy policies, advertising and product packaging materials, contest rules and sweepstakes laws, social media sites and issues, internet marketing matters, intellectual property licensing, and due diligence, documentation, and strategies for acquisitions and mergers and financing transactions.

Ms. Walker’s practice has included a diverse portfolio of clients, ranging from individuals or start-ups to large, Fortune 500 companies. Her clients have spanned a variety of industries including Internet, software and technology companies, an open source non-profit consortium and its collaborative projects, retail clothing companies, food and beverage companies, automotive parts manufacturers and retailers, large online travel companies, medical device, pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, venture capitalists, banks and other lending institutions, health care providers, publishing companies, small local businesses, individual authors, entrepreneurs, and celebrities.

Ms. Walker previously practiced at several top law firms in Boston, including Testa, Hurwitz & Thibeault LLP and K&L Gates LLP. Most recently, Ms. Walker was responsible for leading the trademark practice at Choate, Hall & Stewart LLP.

Ms. Walker holds a J.D. from Northeastern School of Law and a B.A. in Politics from Willamette University. She is admitted to practice before the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts.

Ms. Walker is a member of the International Trademark Association (INTA) and serves on the INTA Trademark Office Practices Committee USPTO Subcommittee. She also volunteers as a writing coach with Citizen Schools Eighth Grade Academy program.

Emily C. Tseng

Senior Counsel

Emily Tseng is Senior Counsel at Danielson Legal LLC. Ms. Tseng specializes in counseling clients on matters related to trademark, copyright, trade dress, domain names, and the internet. She is experienced in all aspects of trademark law, including trademark clearance, prosecution, licensing, and enforcement. Her practice has included operating at a senior level on IP matters for high profile brands and Fortune 500 companies as well as for start-ups, mid-size companies, and prominent individuals. She regularly advises clients on strategic brand adoption and has managed large, global trademark portfolios and worldwide policing and enforcement efforts spanning nearly 70 jurisdictions. She also counsels clients on copyright matters, domain name acquisitions and disputes in the U.S. and other countries, and legal issues related to website terms of use, privacy policies and social media. Ms. Tseng has worked with clients in a variety of industries, including major internet companies and companies in the organic and natural foods, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, medical device, insurance, and financial services industries.

Prior to joining Danielson Legal, Ms. Tseng practiced for six years as an associate at the law firm of K&L Gates LLP in Boston.

Ms. Tseng holds a J.D. (magna cum laude) from Suffolk University Law School and a B.A. (cum laude) in English from Boston College. While attending Suffolk University Law School, she was Content Editor of the Journal of High Technology Law.

Ms. Tseng is admitted to practice before the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts and the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts. She is a member of the International Trademark Association (INTA).

Greg William

Senior Associate

Gregory William has nearly two decades of expertise and experience in the fields of trademark and copyright law. Greg also works on encryption export control matters.  Prior to joining Danielson Legal, Greg was an attorney at Goodwin Procter LLP, where he focused on domestic and foreign trademark clearance, prosecution, management, enforcement and strategy.  He has experience representing entities of all sizes in a variety of industries and technologies, including software, traditional and emerging media/entertainment, medical devices, financial services, hospitality, and food and beverage.  In addition, Greg has primary responsibility for management of the firm’s docketing systems and personnel.

Mr. William holds a J.D. from Suffolk University Law School, with a concentration in intellectual property, which was awarded with distinction.  Greg also holds a B.A. in Biology from Roger Williams University and a B.S. in Criminal Justice, magna cum laude, also from Roger Williams. Mr. William is admitted to practice before the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts and the U.S. District Court, District of Massachusetts.  Very few things make Greg happier than educating others about trademarks, and being considered a trusted advisor to his clients.

Timothy Welk

Senior Counsel

Timothy Welk is Senior Counsel of Danielson Legal LLC. Mr. Welk previously served as Intellectual Property Counsel for Vecna Technologies, Inc. based in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Mr. Welk has developed and managed patent portfolios in the areas of mechanical, electrical, chemical, and computer software and hardware technologies both domestically and abroad for various clients ranging from startups to multi-national corporations. Mr. Welk has held positions in various IP-boutique firms as well as in the IP departments of various corporations, and also spent a summer in law school interning for a federal district court judge.

Mr. Welk holds a Juris Doctor from the University of New Hampshire School of Law with a concentration intellectual property and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering from the University at Buffalo. He is admitted to practice before the United States Patent & Trademark Office and admitted to practice in Massachusetts.

Elizabeth M. Heintzelman

Associate

Elizabeth M. Heintzelman (Mollie) is an associate at Danielson Legal LLC. Ms. Heintzelman specializes in counseling clients on matters related to trademark, copyright, trade dress and domain names. She is experienced in several aspects of trademark law, including trademark clearance, prosecution, and enforcement. Ms. Heintzelman has worked at several Boston area law firms, working with clients in a variety of industries, including food & beverage, consumer goods, as well as with several startup businesses.

Prior to joining Danielson Legal, Mollie was the Trademark Paralegal at Reebok International Limited where she assisted in handling the sports apparel brand’s trademark clearance, prosecution, and enforcement matters.

Ms. Heintzelman holds a J.D. from Suffolk University Law School and a B.A. in History from University of Maryland-College Park. 

Ms. Heintzelman is admitted to practice before the Supreme Judicial Court of Minnesota. She is a member of the International Trademark Association (INTA) & the New England First Amendment Coalition (NEFAC).
